Updating Sound System in S197
Ok so i have currently a Avic-D3 in there with the shaker 500 system speakers.
I have a set of Phoenix Gold RSD65CS component speakers that are 6.5" midbass with 1" tweets.
I'm not sure if what i want to do will be sufficient or if what i would like to upgrade to would be overkill. All versions include a 10" subwoofer i have in a sealed box that will be run in the trunk.
I'm thinking either on plan a, leave the 8" woofers in place and replace the 5x7/6x8 (whatever size the stock ones are) with the 6.5" midbass on a adapter plate. Then drilling a hole in the door to mount the tweets into. Now would it be better to leave the stock 8" subs running the stock shaker 500 amps, or would it sound murky, and be better to not use them.
or plan b, which would be to ditch the stock 8" subwoofers, and mount the 6.5" midbass there, and put a 4" midbass where the 5x7's are, and then tweets in the door. Now with this how hard would it be to add in a 4" midbass or whatnot. There will be a extra 2 unused channels on the 4 channel which i can run 2 4" midbass from.
The components will be powered with a 4 channel amp in 2 channel mode and each side will be getting 60wrms. The sub will be powered off a 500.1 amp. Would a stock alternator and battery on the S197 be able to handle this. I plan on upgrading to a optima yellow top shortly anyways so that should fix any problems that may occur.
