Replacing front 6x8's with 6.5 components
I want to replace my kicker 6x8's in my front doors with infinity kappa 6.5 components. Do they make an adapter plate to fit them? Or do I just make new holes and just drill them into the car? Also is there somewhere I can mount the tweeter inside the door panel? I might replace the rear deck speakers also with components. Thanks
I don't know of anyone that makes and sells an adaptor. You can cut one out of mdf if you have the time/tools. I have a set cut out for a 5.25" and could make you a set for the 6.5s if you need. Not sure what to tell you on the tweets, I am more familiar with the sn95 style cars.
i used factory mount and sanded down the pastic lip and used 1/2 mdf to fit my components which are deep. i coaxially mounted the tweeter, and actually sanded some of the backside of the honey comb on the door panel so it wouldnt hit, the fit it VERY tight. my comps are about 3" deep
Crossovers are installed under the dash where the factory shaker 500 amps were, i left shaker subs in doors but they arent used as my components produce very solid midbass and i have 2 10s in the trunk for the low end

Scosche make a speaker plates to go from a 6x8 to a 6.5, but for the life of me I cant find it anywhere online to post the link for you. The only problem with that plate is the 6.5 hole is cut kinda small so you may have problem fitting the infinity kappa in there. It maybe easlier to just make you own.
