aftermarket sound install question
i was wondering how hard it is to install a aftermarket deck in my 95 mustang Gt with the Mach 460...? i was told by the install guy at best buy that it is pretty tough.. any thoughts would be appreciated.
I'm an installer from BBY too and the installer you talked to probably does think it is tough, but it is not. Those Mach systems you can just plug and play with a new system. Besides you have a Mach sound system....not Mach 460....there is a difference.
Just get the ford premium harness for your year which is......let me see I am at work now..... 70-5511 is what you will need. Also you dont need a dash kit but will need ford keys to remove the radio.
Now if you had a mach system in the 98+ then yes it is a pain because you have to rewire everything.
If you want the best sound then rewiring your car is best. Switching out all speakers too. But if you just want an aftermarket deck for functionality....not it is not that hard.

Instead of 'Ford Keys' you can also get a wire hanger and cut it into four equal lenghts around 3 inches each and if you want to get fancy, cut them a little longer and make a loop at one end for better grip on them. The keys Pure 5.0 referred to are basically 4 pieces of metal with a loop at the end to grab onto.
I believe the difference between the original Mach and Mach 460 is the 460 that came in newer vehicles had one-amp-per-speaker as opposed to a single-amp-for-all-speakers design. Not certain of this difference but Pure 5.0 could verify that.

hey pure 5.0 thanks a bunch for all of the help... the install went great. i do have one more question if you wouldn't mind helping me out... the right speakers are quite a bit louder than the speakers on the left side of the car... what's up with that? could it be something as simple as the wiring?
1st things first- check the balance. your new deck should have a balance feature to adjust volume from left to right. if that isnt it, try the fade from front to rear and back- maybe you messed up the balance/fade.
