Question Automatic vs. Whip Antenna?

I have a '98 Cobra that has a whip antenna which makes it difficult to put on a car cover. I'm considering putting in an automatic (retracting) antenna but I'm not sure if this is wise or not? I'm also very uncertain as to where to purchase an automatic antenna. Does Ford make one that will work? Is there an aftermarket supplier? Am I going to have trouble getting it to install clean? Any advice would be very much appreciated!

it will take a bit of work to put in a power antenna both on the fabrication side to mount it, as well as in body/paint.

Have you ever considered carring a small adjustable wrench and just removing the mast? I bet it would waste a whole 15-20 secs, how long do you struggle with it now?

Cool Interesting

Interesting, so there isn't a 1:1 replacement option? Hmmm... I suppose the next best option is to buy one of these short antennas (8" or 14") and just replace the tall one that came stock with the car. That way it would be easier to lift the cover over the antenna. It still means that the cover will have a hole in it for the antenna but maybe that's something I can live with.
