Default Replacing old antenna cable?

Just picked up a new antenna base for my 2008 Mustang GT convertible. The old one rusted out.
What is the easiest way to install this? Do I need to remove the battery and battery tray to run the wire through the firewall? Thanks for the info

Are you just replacing the base or the base and the lead?

isn't it still under warrenty? Antennas suck to fix normally as they are put on early in the construction process.

They do not sell just the base. You have to buy the base, cable and the lead. Replacing the whole thing. It is not under warranty anymore. I am already over the mileage

Its not goin to be fun but you can do 2 things: first just trace the old cable and run the new one the same way.

Or

Cut the old cable and soldier the new cable to the old one. That will be the easly way to do it.

What is wrong with what you have now?

When I would go to the car wash, they remove the antenna. The threads on the base completely rusted away, the lead is also rusted. Had to go and buy a new one.

Right now I have no radio antenna at all. I am using my iPhone and just play my music from there.

Well depending on have far down on the lead is rusted, will depend on where you could cut the cable and soldier the new one on.... You may just want to just rerun the new cable to the radio. Its not going to be fun, just pull the old lead out when you run the new lead. Just run it just like ford did at the factory.
