The usual Mach 460 questions..
Before I get flamed out.. I'm posting this from Iraq, so research is very difficult.
Now my plan is to replace my stock Mach 460 headunit in my '04 Cobra, but keep the rest of the system factory.
My plan is to get the Kenwood KDC-X693 headunit, (link)
Then use the Ford 1995-up single din radio kit (link)
And use this wiring harness: link.
It looks like crutchfield is going to be the cheapest place to get this headunit since they include everything for the install.. but let me know if theres a better kit. I'm experienced in stereo installs, I've just never retained a factory speaker system before, much less one as complicated as this. I just want to verify its the right wiring harness, because I've read '04s changed over to some different style.
On a side note, has anyone used the KDC-X693?

looks like you have everything in order man. The only other words of advise is to read the forum sticky on how to remove the turn on pop that you will most likely experience. Another common problem is that you will complain of a lack of bass. This is because the factory amps like a higher voltage input then most decks put out. This problem is easily fixed with a box called a line driver that runs $20-50 depending on brand. I use a phoenix gold one myself just to help reduce noise.
Ok, thats news to me. Can you explain exactly how that line driver would work? Do I just put it in between the RCAs to the head unit and the woofers? If I'm reading it right, it basically just "boosts" the signal, correct?
Quick edit: After doing a google search, I read that headunits with 4v+ outputs shouldn't need a line driver.. is that just a generic response, or would that also apply to the Mach 460? The HU I'm planning on getting has the 4v outputs.

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...old+TLD22.html - Is this the line driver you use, or will this one work? It seems to be the exact description of the thing I'm looking for. Do I just power it/ground it off and plug the RCAs in?
