I just installed the sync accessory kit in my 09 gt with a shaker 500 system. except for annoyances trying to get the panel off, the install went ok, but i have a problem.

I can't get the HMI (the three button talk, phone up/down, ok) device to work for voice prompts. Hitting the buttons on it does nothing. I tore everything apart and re-installed, but i'm still having the same problem. I know that the HMI is connected, the backlighting goes on and off with the car lights.

I've synced a phone through bluetooth, and can navigate through the radio face when stopped. placing a call in this way worked fine, but you have to be stopped to look through phonebook, etc. likewise, i have a zune hooked up, and can navigate through the radio, as well.

has anybody else had this problem? is there any reason to believe that updating the software will fix it, or is it likely i just got a dud HMI.
