Default Mach 460 any good?

I have a 96 GT that the previous owner took the Mach 460 sound system out of and left holes everywhere that there used to be speakers and a radio. If I read the forums correctly everyone is trying to put aftermarket radio's in and get rid of the Mach 460's. My questions is are the stock systems not any good or does everyone just have a need for really loud systems. I love loud music just like everyone else but a have a 2yr old that is in the car about 90% of the time and I dont really need a kick Butt system right now in the car. I would rather spend the money on performance parts. So am I wasting time searching ebay for Mach 460 parts?

the mach460 is a great system for oem

it has 8 speakers and the bass is excelent for the factory

however, many aftermarket systems are much better, and people just have a need for more like
you said.

The Mach 460 sounds great for an almost 10 year old system. The mach stuff is really pretty expensive for the most part on E-Bay. Last week a head unit and CD player sold for 180.00,the eight speakers 120.00 the wiring harness 100.00 and the amps 160.00.I already sold my deck and CD (50.00 bucks) but I still have the rest of the stuff I'll let ya have cheap.E-Mail me at Jimmytz66@Yahoo.com if your interested. THANKS. By the way don't try mixing aftermarket with the Mach system...IT SUCKS!!!!

The Mach 460 is probably the best sounding "factory system" I've heard, which isn't actually saying much as I haven't heard a LOT of other factory car systems but N E way if your car still had the system intact I would say just keep it as is.

Yes you basically can't blend factory parts with aftermarket. If your whole system is gone, then it would be cheaper for you to just use aftermarket parts, and you also get better variety that way. The biggest missing link in the Mach system. it has no BASS!

the mach 460 is very good for oem for the years it was made. I think maybe the verts have less bass than the hardtop systems cause they have 6" speakers in the back instead of 6x9's. My 460 has decent bass for an oem stereo.
