Default Subwoofer suggestion

I just bought a used 02 GT and one of the things left in the back was an amp. It's bolted onto the back of the left rear passengar seat and it has a raw output cord coming out of it into the trunk. It didn't power up so I changed the fuses and that was the problem.. they were blown. Its a Verge 300 amp... i think.. it says 220 watts on it so i guess thats its peak. I did a search for it and found pretty much nothing so I'm assuming its a pretty cheap amp. Nevertheless, I want to get a woofer for it since it looks cool in the trunk and it will sound a little cooler. I don't listen to rap and rarely hip hop(I'm a classic rock guy.. well kid 16 yrs old). What is a fairly cheap but still decent quality woofer I can throw on this thing for some low end thump. I will need it with the enclosure I assume since it's going to be sitting in my trunk.

Thanks a lot guys

Well first your going to have to find out what the rms is of the amp. After that, you can choose a sub that has the same rms as the amp. RMS is root mean square, which is basically the normal output power from the amp. I can't really suggest any subs right now though. Are you going to get a better amp down the road? If so I would suggest getting a good sub, jl, kicker, rockfords. If you're going to stick with the generic amp then you might want to consider a generic sub. I really wouldn't want to buy an awesome sub and have it fudger by a crappy amp. But, then again, a good sub might just make a bad amp look good.... Anybody else have any comments about this?

i agree with you, if youre going to get a better amp down the road get a JL Audio sub, probably for you one of the lower entry. you can get one for around 100 bucks and they sound great, not only that they arent going to blow up unless youre stupid lol. if youre not gonna get another amp...get a sony lol

Here is like the ONE website where I could actually find this thing. At 2 ohms the RMS is 265W and at 4 ohms it's 195W. Not very powerful i guess?

powerful doesn't always mean good--there are many high quality amps that have relatively low power output. that amp should work really well with say a JL Audio W3 sub. the dual 4 ohm model would be perfect for that amp wired down to 2 ohms.

I would have to do some looking to decide on my reccomendation for a sub but I would suggest getting a DVC sub since the amp supports 2 and 4 ohm connections. Just decide on how much you want to spend and see which brand falls within your price range. JL is pretty expensive. You can go with Rockford or Kicker, both who make really good subs.
