Default 1989 mustang static

I bought my car with a crappy old stereo in it that I've never heard of before and figured the radio and c.d player screwed up sometimes because of the deck itself. Today I installed a deck I had in my other car that is 1 year old. Seemed to be fine until i drove about 10km and the radio started becoming only static then you could hear words as if the signal was really low. I put in a cd thinking maybe the antenna is screwed up and the c.d was doing the same thing.

checked my wiring 4 times and used a wiring harness adapter kit to install the stereo. when it works it works great. also the rear speakers only produce a very low volume even when the deck is turned way up. so low you have to have your ear right over the speaker.

does your mustang have a amp in it. also try poping the speakers from the headunit. if you can pop them then something wrong with your radio.

or try hooking the old crappy stereo back up and see if it sounds better if it does the radio is the problem if it doesnt its something in the wiriing or that actual speakers. another thing you can do is take all speakers out and hook one up at a time. maybe one of the spkrs is grounding out. i doubt it but its possible

directly under it, or sometimes under the seat. It is an octagonally shaped metal box with a bunch of holes in it. There will be two harnesses that come out of it, follow one up and behind the climate controls and glove box and it will connect to another black harness that looks exactly like the one I point to on page 2 of my cardomain page. Disconnect it, and then pull the male end down into the radio hole and use that with a standard ford 70-1770 or fdo2b hrns for your speakers.

that's how mine is wired. after meticulous inspection i found a problem with a ground wire. for some reason there is the wiring harness from the deck attached to the wiring harness adapter which is fine. but the previous owner also has one coming from up by the steering column.

this third wire came loose. I put it back together and have not had a problem with my deck since. didn't think a ground could do that but im hoping its as simple as that.

with the new deck I've realized door speakers don't work at all and the 3.5" ones are blown and like i said before the rear speakers are really low, but I think its the speakers themselves because when i brought them into my house and hooked them up to my home theater they weren't very loud either.
