Default Need help from all you car audio gurus..

Hey guys, I got a new sub today, nothing special or powerful. Just to add some bass.

This is my setup:

I have the avic d3 as my radio.

This is my amp:

This is my sub woofer
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+12W0-4+-.html

Now i don't know much about car audio so what is the best way to setup the amp and subwoofer and the radio. Like i don't know anything about the ohms or if i should cross them or something. Also what settings should i use on the amp for each setting. I suck at setting those. Anything special i should do on the headunit? Thanks for any help. I know many guys in here helped me out before.

You have a SVC 4 ohm sub, so the most you will get out of that amp is about 300 watts, which should be plenty.Leave the amp full range and use the sub output on the head unit and use the built in crossover in the Pioneer set between 80-120 hz

sorry im stupid with the stuff, what does leaving the amp full range mean? Also best buy was retarded and used a line out convertor to tap into my rear speakers i think to connect the subs, so the shaker subs are the only thing connected to the subwoofer input in the radio, thanks for the help

The amp should have a built in crossover.Leaving it full range means it will pass through the full frequency range,20-20khz.A low pass crossover means only low frequencies will pass and high pass means only high frquencies will pass. The purpsose of leaving it full range is to use the built in crossover in the head unit, so you can can adjust from inside instead of going to the amp.You dont want to max the adjustments, just make small changes till it sounds good to you.The frequency cutoff on the head unit should be about 80-120, any higher and you will send a more of a "mid bass" frequency to the sub and it will sound horrible.Any lower then 80 and the sub might not be aboe to produce that frequency.

We get about 60 calls a day from Best Buy installers that just dont read instructions or understand what they are doing. Not my first choice for a install. If Best Buy tapped into the Shaker subs, they grabbed a signal that was already crossed over.It will work, but your going to lose the adjustability becasue your stuck with whatever frequency is comming out of the Shaker amp, and your sub might sound the best that it could

Thank you, that helped a little. The only reason i got it done at best buy was because i used to work there and i got a great discount on the install.

Would you be able to tell me, why when i remove the rca cables from the line out converter and put them into the subwoofer inputs in the headunit, it doesn't work? The shakers work fine in the subwoofer input but i cant get the aftermarket sub to work in the subwoofer input.

yeah, if i hook up the shakers to that it works fine...do you think i need to remove the whole line out converter to make it work?

Im guessing you have some kind of radio replacement interface. You can use a "Y" splitter on the Pioneer output, but that is going to also change the Shaker sub settings when you adjust the JL sub.The LOC is just giving a low level signal and shouldnt affect the JL from not working. Are the rear RCA outputs for the Pioneer being used?Use those for the amp and adjust the amps crossover. But there shouldnt be any reason why the sub signal isnt going to the Kenwood amp.
