All input appreciated.

I did a lot of research on this, posted up the same question on another forum as well and concensus is the same. Its a hit or miss. I'd rather not take the chance and deal with issues later so I'm going to go ahead and give it to the shop that has 3 of the nations #1 installers from my research.

Not to mention the decision was made easier cuz i found the HU I was looking for for $70 cheaper than anywhere else including shipping. I ordered it today should be in hopefully end of this week and in the car by next weekend.

they are no different then any other shop, they are likely to have someone that has 15 yrs experience and knows what they are doing and just as likely to have a new guy that thinks he knows everything. I always recomend taking a walk back to the bay and talking to the installer and checking out his shop a little and ask yourself, do I want to give this guy my car?

Like has been stated before it depends on the installer you get at the time.
Places like Best Buy have a higher turnover rate for installers, you don't want to get the guy on his way out!!! But a plus for big chains is that they are insured out the ***!!

Try and find a privately owned shop that has been there for a while, also look at the type of cars in the parking lot; ie...allot of high end cars.

Also ask if you can see some of the things they have done in the past or are currently working on and look at the level of detail and craftsmanship. They do more in-depth project type installs where as BB does the in and out quickie...

If BB is the only shop in town, ask to speak to the installation manager and let him know your concerns, and he should put his best guy on it or maybe even do it himself.

Terriblle is my only experience.

Had to fix a friends car that they had run an 8 gauge amp kit down each side of the car, instead of the 4 gauge kit to d-block he had asked for.

It is a little hard to get a clean signal from an RCA that is running right next to a power wire... I guess the techs had never amped mids/highs before to hear the alt whine.

I don't know which part is worse...

Some might be fine, but don't take the risk. Do it yourself so it is done right...

im a installer for bestbuy and i will tell you that yea it is hit or miss as far as the installers. i have seen some bad jobs and some good jobs from other stores. i know my store makes sure to do a good job cause i will be on their *** about it cause i run the bay. but what i would recomend is talk to a guy and talk to him about other stuff like remote starts and all for your car and that will tell you how experienced he is at installing. but the mustangs are not a hard car to wokr on either. i love working on them everyday. hope this helps.

I do tech support/engnieering for a manufacturer and let me say we get TONS of calls from Best Buy installers, some dont bother with intructions and some are dead on to trubleshoot problems. So IMO, its hit or miss

In my old mustang I had my system installed at best buy, and the guy f*cked something up with the wiring and the sound would cut in and out randomly and make loud screeches and crap. I dont trust them after that
