Default 2001 Speakers

I was hoping someone here may be able to help me. My wife drives a 2001 mustang which came with the premium sound system. She is a huge fan of listening to her music very loud and has blown the small speakers at the top of the door (I guess they are tweeters). For Christmas I would like to replace these for her. However, I have not been very successful in research on what I need to buy (I don’t have much car smarts). Can someone point me in the right direction of how to determine what type of speakers these are and how I can replace them? Thanks.

they are 2.5 inch. if you want the same size you have to use a factory replacement. you should be able to find one on ebay or craigslist. if you want to do something other than the factory size you can change both fronts with a set of tweeters.

have you replaced the deck in the car? Often when replacing the deck it was not wired to x-over the speakers and they are not made to handle ANY bass. Try turning down the bass, turning off the loudness and see what they sound like. Caps as x-overs are much much cheaper then a speaker.
