Default mach 460 replacement headunit misc Q's

I have been focusing on just putting in a sub and extra amp to my stock mach 460, so haven't read much on repalcement radios... Now, i am entertaining just changing the radio and have some misc questions...

I am going to put in a Kicker amp mono to my 10" kicker sub.

Wiring harness - I believe crutchfield sells a wriing harness adapter, if not who does? Would this be basically, plug incoming wire harness into adapter and plug adapter to new radio?

Removal / replacement head unit - Any where online you guys can direct me to get the instructions on how to remove the factory radio and drop in the new one? Or, just lmk here if not too much.

Sound - Putting in an afermarket radio...will that cause the system to sound like crap, no change, or improve? If I later decide to change the door speakers to 6 1/2" components (I think that is the size I've read that is recommeneded) is it also just plug them in and it will work fine with the stock amp setup? How will the system (radio or amp or??) define only highs go here and mids go there, etc?

edit... Any recommended online stores / ebay vendors to get the head unit? I checked crutchfield online.. forget it, the cheapest double din radio was mid $300's...

tks

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/

Fairly good deals on "last years" nodels, which hardly change that much, other than minor aesthetic changes. Refurbs etc...

Was going to order mine from there until I heard they file the serial numbers, send faulty or display units, and have horrible customer service. Check Amazon, thats where I got my headunit on sale a few weeks ago.

you can easily swap out the radio and with a little tweeking make it sound better too. You will need to bypass the factory amp if you swap out the 5 x7 woofers with a 6.5" full range driver or the stock amp will shut down or blow. Its not hard to do, I show how to install a deck on page 2 of my cardomain page and bypass the amps as far as wiring. Depending on if you have the double din dash or the single din the removal will vary slightly.

I'll have to check your page out, thanks.

Crutchfield has some decent selections in the $300 range..

If you want to wire up an aftermarket amp to the Mach system, simply buy a line output converter. They wire into your speaker outputs. Just make sure to tap into your rear speaker wires directly behind the deck so your not using an already amplified signal. I have done this in 3 different mustangs with mach systems.
Also, for the remote wire, just run it to the fuse box and shove it in with the wiper fuse.
