Default GPS Nav Receiver Location?

Crutchfield had a great deal on a GPS Nav head unit, so I am going to swap out my Shaker 500 unit.

My question is where others put the GPS Nav antenna? I looked over all the docs that came with the Crutchfield stuff but nothing I see mentions where this needs to go? I have read that others have put it under the dash? I would like it to be out of site, and still get a signal of course. Any help is appreciated!

Also similar question for those who have mounted an external blue tooth mic? Best place to put it?

I mounted mine under the dash, two bars short of full signal there

this might sound stupid but where would you put the GPS antenna of an 04 Mustang? They don't have the metal bars like the 05-09 Mustangs do.
