My little projects
I like to stay busy usually when I can
Here I'm building a pair of 12" Tc9 subwoofers using soft progressive linear spiders a nice heavy copper coil that was pretty tight in the coil gap which should help with bl.
Here are all the parts

Spiders and coil being Glued and Clamped

Sewn tinsel leads are just full of win in my opinion.

all dried up

I have one more tc9 to go, sadly I wont be keeping these. Selling them to a local for $240 for the pair which is a complete steal on his part.

Here is a FI SSD I did a few weeks ago.

Tinsel leads un-soldered

Everything is sanded and ready for the glue

Everything is glued and clamped

Tinsel leads are now soldered

Dustcap is now being glued and sitting

All done

It not hard in a sense depending on what you are doing. If you are doing it like the first group of pictures then it becomes difficult and coil placement is very crucial. You have to....
Measure the topplate thickness.. Then divide by 2...
Measure the coils WW and divide by 2..
Then minus your total from the top plate from the total of your Coils WW.
IE:
1" top plate
2" WW
Top plate: 1" / 2 = .5"
Coil WW: 2" / 2 = 1"
Coil height = 1" - .5" = Coil height from the top of your top plate of .5"

Most of the time company's will sell you drop in recone kits as the Fi subwoofer is. You just sand, clean, glue, shim gaps clamp down and then let sit.

Here are some Crossfire xt2 drivers I am also working on. these came in as a 15" subwoofers with a good amount of issues. These ended up being non repairable. So we opted to make them 10" drivers to be used in the customers older Honda.

Here we have the motors already stripped down

I'm waiting on the parts for these crossfires to come in. I also bought two other motors to recone. They should turn out very sweet.
This is my personal project for me. It is a Team Rockford Fosgate motor and my own special parts. This little project has been on hold since December but will be coming to light soon.

Crossfire parts came in, we opted for new baskets and different type of surround than originally planned which is why the long wait but guy is real good friends with me now so he is really cool about time and he changed on me last minute after i got parts in.
Anyways

Nice sewn tinsel leads

Second will be done tomorrow and I will have group shots of them all.

And here is my new baby
15" Concept csp
Here is how she arrived poorly packed and basket broken

Stripped screws ftl and metal shavings in gap

Just need to muscle screws out

After a few of struggling she is taken apart
'
The parts

Basket is sanded

How she looks

The original drivers made by Re Audio known as the destroyer had shotty soft parts in them. Lots of failing at the spiders. I opted for dual 9.75" spiders with a 20mm spacer. 4layer aluminum coil. This baby can easily take 2000rms in a daily application.
