stereo help
Hi, I recently put an soundgate zune intergration in an 07 mustang gt, with the shaker 500 in it I think. I have notice now while in aux mode, I have to trun the stereo up more before it starts to get load. I was woundering if there is anything a I can do to help the volume out without replacing the factory headunit. different speakers maybe?
Doesn't the Aux in use the headphone jack from the Zune which would allow you to adjust the volume on the Zune itself? If so, the Zune controller more than likely uses the line out from the bottom connector of the Zune, which will be significantly lower than the headphone output since there is no volume control available for the line out.
Prior to the purchase of your Soundgate, your vehicle's aux in used the headphone jack on your Zune, correct? IIRC, the 2007 mustang has a little mini jack in the center console.
Regardless, the connector at the bottom of your Zune is a low level, line output, that is bypassing the Zune's internal headphone amplifier. That would account for the reduced volume from your MP3 player.

yes that is correct I used the headphone jack, prior to the soundgate istallation. So you saying its cause its not using the headphone jack anymore? since its using the connector to play and charge the zune it wont get as load as using the headphone jack would. I do seem like I have to turn it up over 1/2 way on the stereo, I just dont wont to ruin any speakers or anything.
As long as you aren't hearing signs of audible distortion, you should be OK. I've seen this issue in some vehicles when switching from FM to CD to XM to Ipod where some sources would be louder than others. Just exercise caution when switching from your Ipod with the volume cranked up to the CD or Radio so you don't blow your speakers. Of course, I am assuming that your CD and Radio are way louder than the Ipod connected through the Soundgate.
