Default Subs cutting in and out

Hey guys I got this setup for free so I'm not complaining but I have two Pioneer 10's 500watts max each, and a Sony Xplode 600watt amp (yes I know its trash) sometimes it will hit really hard and then other times it barely hits. I'm thinking its the amp? I also have a Pioneer 3100 so I know it has nothing to do with the headunit. Just need some type of idea of what it could be, it is wired in a series if that makes a difference. Originally I had them wired parallel until I figured out it was too much for the amp and was causing it to cut off. All my connections are good aswell. I'm almost positive its the amp.

Thanks!

Most likely still happening. Is the ground good? If it is, I'd say most likely its just the amp like you said.

Lol appreciate it, the ground is fine I went ahead and took the whole system out because that amp was getting so hot I couldn't touch it and it smelt like burning plastic.

You have anything cooling it externally? Fans, anything? It would probably help alot in your case. If it has an internal fan make sure it's working and not dust covered. Actually...Can you post the exact model amp you have or a link to one online?

Its this one right here and no it doesn't have any fans internally or externally.

those Sony amps are always overheating some them have a thermal protection led that will click on to let you know when its overheating or something like that. Some dynamat in the trunk might help cool things down a bit and fan wouldn't be a bad idea either

Yeah I don't think fans are gonna solve the problem. I think those Pioneers are just too much for that little amp. It's only 60w RMS x2. No way it can push them 500w Pioneers for long. Id be happy it lasted as long as it did tbh.

Also I got the subs and amp for free from a buddy that had his license suspended and sold his car so I'm not complaining, what would you recommend I'd get? AMP size wise.

And yes Jay it would flip off into protection mode when I had them wired parallel at first.

This is a decent price and will push them harder than what you have for sure.

Could probably find it cheaper elsewhere if you search enough...But $199.00 is a good deal for it. You could wire the subs up parallel (2 Ohm) and push 400w. (someone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong...me and Ohms don't get along)

Everything higher is going to get pricey and I have no idea what you would want to spend... I think that amp would push your Pioneers just fine.
