Mach 460 not playing CDs
Just got my 02 GT about a month ago and the kid that owned it has a chrome-like trim around the whole mach 460 stereo. I think this is causing the whole unit to overheat because it feels hot especially when the sun's out in the day. The problem is that when I press CD it goes to the disc that I want it to and then just keeps seeking and eventually says "CD Error" or "Bad Disc". In the manual it says that it will shutdown if it reaches 140 degrees F but when I went out last night at like 11 it was cool and it didn't even feel warm yet it still didn't play my CDs. Has anyone else had this problem?

Yea that's the conclusion that I was coming to. As far as replacing my head unit should I go with another mach 460 or should I look at an aftermarket stereo. I don't need anything special and I don't HAVE to have the cd changer but it was a pretty cool luxury to have a 6 in dash.
Well I dont listen to cds very much so when mine messed up I just unplugged it and put it back in, so it still looks clean. Most people agree the 460 sound system sucks but I actually like it. Im not into subs and all that crap.
Yea I don't have subs or any of that stuff and I'm not into systems or anything. I just want to be able to listen to my CDs and stuff. I'm going to start a new thread about a good head unit. Thanks
i have a mach 460 cd player which im selling out of my 2001 stang if ur interested in perfect working order, as far as head units go i would strongly recommend an eclipse CD5444 thats what i have, and love it... it's not for people who enjoy all the flashy lights and such though.
