My cd player in my 01 Mustang GT has always been working fine, but now all of a sudden, I can't get it to load a cd. The radio and everything else works fine, but when I selct LOAD, is say select slot. I then select a slot, and nothing happens. I have disconnected the power and a few other things but have had no luck yet. Do any of you have any ideas? Thanks in advance!

 

Mine started doing this then said cd error every time i clicked on cd controls, i opened it and pulled the cds out and it worked for a little bit then did it again. I gave up and bought a new head unit, best money ive spent in a while

 

It's about time to start looking at a new cd player, there isn't any hope for the stock one. The 6 disc changers have a bad rep for the cd portion going bad.

 

I am having the same problem. My buddy who is a ford tech said this is common problem and it also causes battery to die as CD player is always trying to eject cds. I pulled all the CDs out of my radio today - I will see if that resolves my battery problem

I don't use CDs very often, so buying a new head unit sucks because you lose speed sensitive volume on the radio.
