You can just run it along the center next to the molding after you get the center console top section off for the install. There should be a plastic tab on the drivers side inside the console that you can pop off to feed it into there.
Ainīt exactly pretty, but itīs hidden in there. You could run it in from the groove instead, and get one of the base mounting things from the apple store with double-sided tape to make it a bit less cheese in there, but I havenīt bothered with the cable for mine coming from the car pc since nobody can see it, itīs not a big deal to me.

As for theft, no problems here so far. But Iīd almost dare someone to try with mine. ****** and grab isnīt easy with these later models.

As for the last question of the diode, donīt know.

i'm not 100% sure, but since the 4200 is more or less an 'upgrade' to the 3200, i assume you may need it as well. i think it also depends on the oem stereo you have, though (i just followed what others suggested when it came to this ). if you have the basic, 4 speaker system, i don't think you need it. but if you have either shaker system (the 500 or 1000) it is recommended.

if you are going to solder the wires together, it may not be a bad idea anyway; the diodes only cost about $1 at radioshack and adds maybe a minute to the insall. that way, you're covered just in case.

+1 on this too, even if you know what you're doing, it will still take at least 5 minutes to get to the point where you can attempt to pull the radio out; way too long for your average '****** and grab'.

you guys are nuts. If you think that a theif is going to remove every screw to take your deck you are crazy. I bet any average theif could get that deck out in under a minute, but it will cost you a grand to fix everything they break while doing it..... If you do not put an alarm in your car I feel no sorrow for you when it is stolen. ITs just the world we live in now, i put an alarm in just a little while after I put the key in the ignition the first time....

I seriously doubt that. Iīm no stranger to thieves, itīs been done to me in the past. But with a basic alarm, such as the CS has stock, coupled with actually bolting things in would still take an experienced thief with a crowbar to either give pause, or smash and leave, rather than grab in most cases as there are far easier vehicles to swipe from.

Still going to cost you from the attempt in either case, should the attempt be made. Trick is to make them wanna pick on the Nissan next-door for their pawn-shop cash.

seriously, a good theif would have it done in a minute and leave you with a big repair bill. FActory alarms are useless because they are all done the exact same way, know how to get around one and you can get around all of them. They are not that hard to get around if you work in the industry and I would never consider them as actually protecting much... They are good for a little more then a keyless entry and aimed more at convenience then actually protection.

The normal access and disable points donīt change just because you installed an AM alarm. The factory one for this is not the usual simple passive install. The AMīs are rarely deviated much from their design or implementation upon install as well. If your talking about someone thatīs this good, having a viper sticker on the window isnīt going to help any more so then a factory one showing it has an alarm. Any alarm system is more for deterring the punk kids in the back parking lot of the mall then a professional thief.

If your targeted, thereīs going to be a repair bill period. Iīd still of course get some kind of alarm system if he doesnīt have one, but as for factory vs. After-Market, Iīm of the opinion itīs more paranoia than practicality to get an AM to replace a factory one. Either is easily disabled in a short time to someone that knows what theyīre doing.

True theft protection is just deterrence from them attempting it to start with due to believing itīs not worth the risk. Parking in a well lit, active area goes miles further IMO. I am by no means in the best section as I bought a house within my means to actually pay for it, unlike many of these later years. I have now had this car for 2+ years, another ī06 before that, never broken into or attempted.

I donīt attribute any of the above to the alarm in this or the AM I installed on the other, but the fact that I keep a light (non-blinding/flood, as Iīm not trying to **** off the neighborhood) on the driveway at my house. When I go out I try to park somewhere that I can mimic that cockroach poisoning as best as possible.
