Default Components vs 6x9's

This actually has nothing to do with my mustang but I need some audio advice. I am building an audio system in a cooler to take to the beach/pool/tubing. Anyway, is it worth the extra money and hassle to run two 6x9 speakers along with two component speakers or should I just go with the cheaper option of four components. I have very limited space so I won't be running an amp but it will be ran through my 216 watt headunit. Any help or feedback would be much appreciated.

Personally you will get more mid-bass and even a little low end with the 6x9's. But i prefer the sound from components. But being that your mixing them you should get a good mixing of the sound as well. I would also use some baffles on the components so the 6x9's will not interfere with the Mid-range speakers extension. Post pics when your done i may do the same thing for this spring/summer!

If you are looking to make something that is efficient and has the ability to get loud I would look into Pa drivers.

How wide is your cooler and how much power do you plan on using?

These Selenium drivers are good for the price but so Are Eminence Alpha's and even Pyle makes good pa speakers. They have a very wide Bandwidth.

If you can get away with a set of 8s that would be plenty loud and very budget friendly. There is no replacement for displacement.

Here are all the speakers that Parts express does sell maybe you should just browse thru the list and see what will work better for you.

well i havn't bought the cooler but now im worried about it ending up huge and heavy. My plan now is to downgrade a bit.

I am thinking of running a pair of polk audio db691 6x9's being pushed with 600w. Hopefully this will produce a quality sound but will also be transportable and not too cumbersome.
