Default stealthbox or custom

So currently I am running 2 12" JL subs that are taking up my entire trunk, but am on the fence about how to free up some space.

The first option is of course to get a stealthbox, while the second is to take my existing 12's and get 2 custom boxes made. Apart from the cost difference, I do have some questions about the stealthbox. Primary, how does it sound and will it be better then 2, on par, or worse?

I am currently running:
Alpine IVA-W505
Boston Accustic Pro 60se
Alpine Type R 5x7
Apline PDX 100
Memphis 500w mono

Anyway, any feedback is welcome

the stealthbox sounds great inside the car, but it's not too loud outside the car. for me that's great, i'm not into shaking the house next door. if you are wanting something that shakes the neighbors house, you will want something else. Nice, deep bass inside the car and the trunk is completely open other than about 6-inches on the side of the car. Just know what you want and expect going in. I have the stealthbox and a 500W JL amp pushing it.

Which series of JL 12s are you running? If you are running the 12w6v2 or the 12w7 ported, going to the stealthbox will be disappointing. It is my opinion that properly built ported enclosures trump sealed enclosures in terms of low end output especially when comparing similarly sized drivers.

With that said, if you are running the W3 or lower series 12s sealed, the difference between them and the stealthbox should not be that bad. I went from a pair of 10w3v2s sealed to my 13w6v2 loaded stealthbox and I preferred the output and the low frequency extension offered by the stealthbox over the 10w3v2s.

I guess what it will boil down to is cost. My locals wanted to charge me $1,000 PER fiberglass enclosure to mount in each corner of the trunk. That was a no brainer since I had relatively no tools at the time. Now, I'd take a crack at building my own fiberglass enclosures if I already had the subs, but I'd still buy a stealthbox over paying the local custom shops $2k for unfinished fiberglass enclosures.

Lastly, this site offers 12" enclosures for both the driver's and passenger's side in the trunk of the newer Mustangs: http://www.wickedcas.com/home.php?cat=16

I've only seen the one for a 350z and was as good as it gets. IMHO the 350z Wicked enclosure was way sturdier than the Scosche or Q-Logic enclosures available for the Mustang.

I'd suggest emailing them for more information with regards to air space.

I contacted them and they said the enclosures have only been tested to fit on 05-09 cars. They have not been tested on 10-11. I'm guessing they wont fit since the newer ones are different.

I personally think they are way to expensive for the quality you get with them.

Bummer.

Now that I look at it, there appears to be a drastic difference in the shape of the 2005 to 2009 Stealthbox when compared to the 2010-2011 model.
