Mach 460 Help!!!
So I just got a '00 Roush Stage 1 about two weeks ago and it has the Mach 460 system in it. The car has a crappy dual headunit in it that I think the previous owner put in himself because its pretty much just sitting in the dash and isn't bolted in. And I dont think he used a harness and just spliced a bunch of wires... My problem that if I turn the volume up so I can hear the music (not loud, just so I'm not straining to hear it), the speakers cut in and out. Now if I turn it down very low again, the cutting in and out stops. Along with this, the front speakers sound like they are barely working. And the only way to turn it off is to take the faceplate off. if i left the faceplate on, the stereo would always be on.
Does anyone know how to fix it so the speakers wont cut out and how to make it so the stereo will turn on when i turn the car on? Or a detailed how-to about rewiring/installing new speakers, amp, and a new headunit into the car? I want to put in alpine 6.5" components in the doors and alpine 6x9s in the rear. I know the stock speakers are 6x8 all around but is there anyway i could make these work if i decide to go and upgrade the system?

this blue wire is the only one that isn't spliced together with something. ANyone know what its for?

this is what plugs into the back of the Dual headunit.

I have no clue what this orange wire with the plug goes to but it was plugged in to the back of the head unit into a hole that says "R" next to it. I'm guessing rear maybe??

the orange wire is an illumination wire, blue is the remote turn on to turn on amps or other audio compontants. Is there a little octagonal box with a bunch of holes in it under the passnger seat, or under the deck? That is the factory amp and what we need to know if you still have or not. If you can pull that dual hrns and the wiring out of the dash further and see if there is another set of hrns's attached or if he cut them, or how thick the wires are that he connected too.
There's nothing under the passenger seat but there are 2 factory amps under the rear deck. Does that mean they aren't even connected since that blue wire doesn't go to anything?
The Dual Harness is just attached to other wiresso im guessing he cut it. I did find another harness that was plugged into something else though. Here is a pic of it:

try powering up the system, then go in the trunk and disconnect the hrns's to the amps. I want to find out if they are still powering the speakers or if they bypassed them.
cut and paste my cardomain site in my sig and go to page 2. IT will show you what hrns's you should be looking for.

I powered it up and it sounds really flat. i can tell that the only thing working up front are the two tweeters up by the windows on the doors. And from the look of the speaker grill it seems like there is a larger speaker and then another tweeter next to it? Only the smaller speakers in the back sound like they are working as well. I pulled down the seats to access the amps and I unplugged the harness to the amp on the passenger side and didn't sound like it made a difference. I couldn't unplug the harness on the driver side amp because it was stuck in there pretty good. Then I also unplugged the harness that is in the middle of the amp rack and this didn't make a difference either.
I looked at your cardomain and I'm at school and wont have the tools to full take the dash apart to really get a good look at the front. But I was looking around in the slot where the stereo was and found this thick gray wire wrapped in tape that isn't connected to anything.

This is a picture of another thick gray wire that is taped up and not connected to anything. There is also a group of wires totally taped up except for where you can see the color of the wires. This bundle of wires doesn't go to anything either

that looks like the input for teh mach system, which is why you do not have any bass. They just wired up the tweeters which is the easy way out. You will need to get a premium for radio hrns and it should take less then $16 and 30 mins to wire up.
