I have a 2008 GT that i bought used with a kenwood DNX7100. I noticed that the previous owner had a sub system in the back of the trunk, but it was removed. I noticed because the rear speakers were disconnected and the wiring was used to power the subs. I'm panning on buying a Kicker 12" sub with enclosure but I have no idea on what kind of amplifier to get. any suggestions?

What kicker is it? ported or sealed box?

 

Sealed, I'm looking at getting a crunch 2 channel amp for 100 at frys.

this would be my suggestion. use one channel and if you decide one 12 isn't enough, it has enough room to add another.

 

Id rather go with a Crunch amp of equal wattage.I sold about 10 of those recently and they have worked very well for their price.

 

So I picked up a kicker cvr 12" sub with a kicker zx300.1 amplifier and some 1000 watt monster cables. I'm looking for bass but nothing that would draw too much attention. What do you think about this set up? I wanted an L7 but they were discontinued.

 

i have ran a cvr 12 on 300w and it did fine.

 

First, L7's are not discontinued. Second, l7's really sound their best in a ported box. you wouldn't be able to fit an l7 in a big enough box to sound good in your trunk. Unless you really just don't want a trunk anymore.

 

I meant frys stopped selling the L7s. Gotta wait till Sunday to get my sub installed.
