Default Headunit and new speakers HELP!!!

For over a year now I have had an aftermarket Pioneer headunit in my car with the factory speakers for the Mach 460 system. Everything worked great all but the drivers door cone was ripped so the speaker wasn't too too great. Well I bought compent sets for both the front and rear of the car. Read up on some tips on how to make the stock amps work with the new speakers and bought the needed harnesses. Well all of the speakers were installed, hooked up the harnesses and the only sound coming from the speakers are a high range and very little to no bass whatsoever. Does anyone have an easier way to set this up? I followed ttcos's instruction on car doman. I am trying to keep all factory connections, and the only hacking I am gonna do is on the aftermarket harnesses that I bought to adapt the headunit. Thats as far as I want to go, and I am trying my best to keep myself from taking to car to an audio shop. So any further assistance will help IMMENSELY!!!!!!!! So please any input would help a ton. Thanks in advance.

ah not sure what you read, but THE STOCK AMPS ARE NOT COMPATABLE WITH AFTERMARKET SPEAKERS and no ifs/ands/buts. Not sure what you hooked up to but some pics would help. Did you use the rca's from the deck or the speaker level?

The easiest way to do it, is to wire your deck into the bypass hrns located next to the deck with the 70-1770 for FDO2b(Scosche) hrns to bypass the amps. I point to the bypass hrns next to the radio half way down this page.

Now go to your speakers and use the wires that go to the tweeters to connect to your componants cross-over, then to the speakers and yer done.

Ok I apologize I thought the factory amps were compatible. Well now that I know that I have my head unit plugged into the bypass harness but the sound is terrible. What else do I need to do to make the sound system sound decent? What watt amp would I need to improve this? And if there I any other way you can further explain this setup and installation it'd be great. You seem to be the guru on this stuff, thanks ttocs

ah see the problem is that you are not feeding any signal to the subs, and are now playing the 2.5" tweets full range which is bad too. Does your deck have sub outputs? If it does you need to get the ford/jbl premium hrns and wire up some rca outputs to it, or I think there might be a hrns made now the FDO3B I think was it. Just plug in the rca's, plug in the hrns and then you will need to connect the remote turn on from the deck to the amp turn on in the hrns(blue wires on both) and connect them. I would also recomend going to radio shack and picking up 4 - 100 microfarad capacitors. just cut one of the speaker wires going to each speaker and then connect the cap inbetween the cut and that will take all the bass out of the tweeters and make them happy.
