Default Headunit Problem i think

If i turn up the volume past 20 my headunit just shuts off then comes back on like a sec later. I turned of my subs and my capicator and it still does it i have a sony head unit.

Did you have the unit professionally installed, or did you do it yourself? If professional, then go back to the shop. If you did it yourself, I would check to make sure your ground wire is good. Check solder connections, crimp connections, or if you used t-taps, that could be a problem there. If all those connections are good, then I'd be very suspicious that it's an internal problem. Most likely that is going to be the culprit.

Do you have the Shaker 500 or a standard unit?

Shaft's suggestion is the likely reason, crappy ground. Check that first. If that's fine then...

Was this originally a shaker system (500/1000)? Use those factory amps/subs? Do you have a PAC unit used for the head-unit? Feedback [from factory amp turn-ons] when cranked is known to cause them to crap out. See this thread. Fix is to install a diode (cathode towards the amp) on the white/green wire to stop this. The official tech brief on the issue here.

I think the other similar unit sold by another company has the same issue, so I'd try this fix if you're using another brand adapter to get the proper 5v turn on, VSS, e-brake signal, etc.. As in find the 5v feeding line from the unit to the factory sub turn-ons and solder that diode in place, cathode towards amp.

we can't even begin to help you unless you give a list of the equipment. I am not talkin a general description of color or size or style but model numbers.
