Get pods, those basically replace those black plastic pieces where your feet sit. If your worried about people kicking them, custom work. And by the way I can definatly say there is a differnce in sound between a 5.25 and a 6.5 driver. that like saying theres no differnce between a 12" and a 15" driver. Although there going to have the same excursion (if they're the same driver just different size) The cone surface is larger creating more air movement, thus more sound. Simply put anyhow. Every forum I see you respond in I see you type "Ive been in car audio for 16 years and blah blah blah..." are you sure you don't mean you've been on earth for 16 years??? Heres a real world comparison, if your one the side of the road and a car drives by you feel the air move and blow your shirt and hair a little right, well if a semi drives by the difference is easily noticable. Same movement but, bigger surface creating more air movement.

since when did they start measuring excursion on midrange drivers. get a clue man. you take 6.5" focal utopia's and 5.5" focal utopia's and i guarenttee in the same install there is no difference. but then i guess you can hear things that can only be measured on meters too right. subs is a whole other story so to compare the 2 is apples to oranges. and since i'm 33 years old you can keep the childish comments to yourself and i only mentioned my experience in 2 posts so...

OK lets do this, Let me teach you something gramps
I couldn't find the thiele parameters of your Focal Speakers so we'll use mine...

6 1/2" MTX 6.1 Sd (cone area) = 140cm
12" MTX 6.1 Xmax (one way linear travel) = 4.8mm

5 1/4" MTX 5.1 Sd = 112cm
5 1/4" MTX 5.1 Xmax = 4.8mm

6 1/2" = 140X(4.8)2 = 672
5 1/4"= 112X(4.8)2 = 537.6

Ohhh whats that more displacement??? And as everyone knows, theres no replacement for displacement. Theres more air movement, making your ears tell your senses there is more bass. And no there is no difference from a 12" driver and a 6.5" driver. Just one is smaller making it more capable of reproducing the tighter, more punchy bass notes.

once again apples to oranges midrange drivers have nothing to with bass. so to use subwoofers as an example is just nonsense thanx again. young'n you probably never even of focal i take it., mtx is garbage compared to them. you can talk about displacement all day long, been there done that homie. when we are talking front stage, midrange the difference is not audible to the human ear. slight difference on the meter.

So how low of frequency do you define as bass 40 hz? 80 hz? 150 hz? Midrange's are also known as midbass drivers, midBASS driver see. Midranges have alot to do with bass, way more than treble anyway. So on your Focal component set, what is that big round speaker that produces bass notes? Its a woofer genius a or wait your 5 1/4" is a woofer. Now you tell me what a woofer is designed for, and i'll give you a hint, it's not treble. And by the way I have heard of Focal i've used them. And if you can't tell the difference between a 6 1/2" and a 5 1/4" driver than you are wasting alot of money buying Focals, because the slightly better sound quality they have over other componet sets is intended for SQ, or people that can actually hear the difference between speakers, which you obviously cannot.
