Sub Rings?
are there such things as like an adapter that would make a 12" box a ten? one of my 12's is blown so i kinda made a ring for a ten i had. but i dunno it sounds weird anyways so i might just take it out. it kind of flutters. why is that? (the ten)
First off a box that is too big for a sub can blow it. So that might not be a good idea, and also y it sounds funny, or its already messed up. As far as fluttering maybe the 12 is moving so much air it just cancels the 10, and makes it move.
well my "box" isnt a box. its the spare tire chamber. well the fluttering is kind of hard to explain. its just the way the sub is designed. it seems like it has to be in a closed trunk that is seprated by the seats. but when you listen to it with the lid open and you stand in the back it did the same.
No there isnt an adapter but you should just get a box for 10's and then sell your box that you have now or just get a new sub. For your car since its a hatch you dont need anything more than 2 10's, anyway. By the way dude your 50 looks CLEAN!!!
take a square piece of whatever your box is made of and cut a 10" hole in it and mount that to your existing 12" hole, kinda overlap it you know what I mean. And yes a pair of solid ten's is more than enough in a hatch. And the fluttering is yes because the 12" is basically out doing the 10" it be like having 2 5.0's next to each other one having full exhaust and the other being cut off at the cats. Same sound but the other one is obviously louder. Also another way the 10 may be doing that is if your phase is off, meaning somehow the wires are crossed make sure that how ever you have your positive wire identified both subs are hooked up identically, i've seen someone simply have them backwards on the box, and seen people wire them backwards inside the box. They cancel eachother out and aren't loud at all..
