I have always wanted a Valentine one ever since I first heard about them quite a few years ago, but never really justified the money for one. Well recently I decided to do some research look at buy one. Well after reading a lot of review I came to the conclusion that the V1 has a lot of false alarms, which can lead to you ignoring your detector and really making it useless. So I decided to buy a Escort Passport 9500ix.

I bought it because it had about the same sensitivity as the V1 in most of the test I read. Plus it has built in GPS that can be used to block out false alarm frequency at known locations. I liked the idea of having no false alarms. Plus I liked how it displays the radar frequency has voice commands.

After driving around with it for a few days, I am really impressed with this radar detector. Now that I have one I can't imagine driving without it, lol. The GPS is awesome and it blocks out all false signals and can display your speed as your drive. It also alerts me of speed cameras, red light cameras and known speed traps. The Blue display is very sleek and I like it. I'm glad I bought one.

Anyone else have any experience with these?

They have a newer one out but I paid just over $200 for it

It's AMAZING. I just came home frome vegas and It gave me a 2 mile warning for police.
I turn off the x band and k band and it never goes off unless there's a cop with his radar on we put it next to my friends cobra and his was beeping when there was nothing there and mine was silent.

And mine went off when we were rounding a corner of a mountain and his didn't. And there was a cop on the other side. If we relied on his cobra, it would have been too late.

The only thing it won't really stop is lazer. But you have to get a scrambler to avoid that.

I would buy it again and again. It has paid for itself more than once!

They have an updated one. 9500ix or something. Probably more expensive but the 8500 should be cheaper now check Craigslist or ebay

 

so what happens if a cop is sitting at one of the points that you told it to ignore for false alarms? I went with a whistler pro model mainly because I was able to flushmount it into my clock pod. IT is not the most sensative by any means but I do not speed much anymore.

 

In wa State cops use about 75% laser so it makes a detector not worth the money. I had a passport for years they are a quality unit.
