if you can turn your radar detector off and leave it plugged in, it will not drain the battery. otherwise unplug it. im not sure what pv stands for.

Less false alarms and a wider scaning range I think. I personally cut the wires on mine, ran em up through the A arm, mounted it on the windsheild perm and just ran ground to ground and the 12+ to ign acc. wire. Works great for me. I've always had this setup in every car I've owned.

in the city there is alot of things that will trip the radar detector- just look at all the lights everywhere, automatic door openers, etc. when u put it on city mode it helps be more discriminitive and ignore alot of this. turning city OFF will make it more sensitive for when ur not in the city.

I have a Passport and leave it plugged in and on all the time. It doesn't draw enough to run the battery down.

i know on like the cobra radar detecter city just means when you get a signal it will only beap one to worn you untill it gets closer or the number gets up to 3 and then it goes off. and high way just warns you of everything. on my valentine one it has somthing that is called logic and its way better at seperating false alarms with real ones. i love it

City mode usually doesn't false as much on X band radar signals, which are usually coming from automatic door openers in front of a grocery store. X band is currently only still in use for Radar in New Jersey. I can set my detector to not sense X band on city mode. I switch between city and highway only on longer trips. There is more and more Laser being used, and all the detector is doing for you is letting you know when to pull over if you are speeding. The piece to get now is the Escort ZR3 laser shifter.
