Default 2006 mustang gt

My 06 GT comes in this Wednesday. I am trying to find the sizes of the speakers in the door and in the back. I got the base system, not the 500 or 1000 upgrade. I did this because i plan on putting my own stuff in.

So if anyone can give me the sizes that would be great, so i can have the speakers for when it comes in.

thanks

My 2005 had the base system and the doors and back deck are both 5 x 7.

See now why do they do that? They know damn well that high quality speakers (i.e. Focal/Rainbow) typically come in 6.5" sizes. 5x7? I don't understand. It's a well known fact that any oval shaped speaker are notorious for terrible mid-bass/mid-range.

Now, you gatta pay extra to custom fab plates to mount 6.5s.

I totally agree. I put 5 x 7 Diamonds in there and they sounded bad. Changed them to 5 1/4 and there was a big difference.

Yes sir. I've NEVER heard a 5x7 or 6x9 that sounded good. You'd be either lying, or uneducated to state otherwise.

Scosche makes very inexpensive adapters that allow you to mount a 5 1/4" in the factory space using the factory holes. Crutchfield sells them for like $10. There are many more options in 5 1/4 than 5 x 7. If you want to go with 5 x 7, any good brand will work.

There you go...even the 5.25" would be better. A mediocre 5.25" would probably sound better than "the best" 5x7.

If you are going to spend the money reguardless, you might as well inquire about putting in 6.5s" Who knows, you might have a decent shop around you that can do it for relatively cheap. IMO, it would be WELL worth it.
