push start button: how do i wire it so the LED turns off?
So I just bought a push to start button and I am wondering how I can wire it (or if I'd need a seperate switch) so that the LED turns off after the engine has started. The push start button I purchased is the one in this video:
.
I'm lost on how to get the LED to turn off after the car has turned over. It would be annoying and look tacky if it stays lit all the time. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Both manual's(depending on which button you got) give instructions for adding a resistor to dim:

After going over the instructions briefly, It looks to be a separate line for power to the led. You do have some choices beyond just wiring a resistor to bring the brightness down (as shown in the manuals above), or not giving it power (orange wire).
I would ask in the SN95 section for a fuse or line that is only hot in start, so long as that's what the white wire went to, you can just use that. While it's cranking it will illuminate then, and only then.
From the brief video it seems you're also using the IGN power for the orange illumination wire. You can hook it up to the out-bound dimmer wire so it's adjustable, and only illuminated when the lights are on. Should a schematic for your year mustang not be readily available, should be easy enough to locate with a multi-meter on the back of the dimmer. Might still need to add a resistor to bring it in-line to the rest of the dash brightness level though.

The switch used is just a simple illuminated N/O(normally open) momentary push-button switch. Push it, contacts close to the 2 black lines, 1 feeding their relay box. The led always gets the ground black wire.
You do need to wire into it beyond the "element" as instructed, but that's because I'm pretty sure their "element" is just another resistor to bring the 12v down near to what it's supposed to be getting, which is likely 2.5-5v for the led being used.

I think it kind of ruins the effect if I have to have my car lights on for the button to be lit. In a perfect world I'd like:
Illuminated:
1. Key turned to "ON"
2. Pushing in button/cranking engine
Not illuminated:
1. Immediately after engine starts
2. Engine off (obviously)
Thanks for the help though this is very helpful!
