I'm replacing the Pansonic radio that came in my 05 Mustang GT with a Pioneer AVH 3300. I purchased the Metra 70-5521 radio hareness that includes the amp harness. My assumption was that all GT's either came with the Shaker 500 or 1000 system. Since I didn't have an amp in the trunk, I assumed it came with the Shaker 500. I didn't see the harnes behind the radio. I do know the subwoofer is located in the doors for the Shaker 500 system. I see two harness, one for the radio harness and another harness with just two wires. The subwoofer harness located somewhere else? Maybe my vehicle didn't have a Shaker Radio system to begin with? The radio is working fine, but just wonder about the subwoofer. Any insight would be greatly appreaciated. Thanks.

 

If you don't see the 8pin harness, and there are no 8 inch subs in the doors that stick out, then it likely was the basic audio package for that car. Afraid your assumption is wrong, doesn't have to have a shaker system.

These are the 3 possible harnesses(16pin, 8pin, 24pin). 24pin main will be there regardless of options, 2007+ will have the 16pin(this is the aux in for the center console's 3.5mm stereo jack), and any of the shaker upgraded audio packages will have the 8pin:



The 16pin aux harness adapter is the metra 70-5520AUX.

 

Hi, Wayne is of course correct. The 2005-2006 Stang GT Deluxe came with the base radio, the GT Premium upgrade moved up to the Shaker 500, along with Leather Seats. and of course the Shaker 1000 was an additional upgrade from there.

I just did my 06 GT Premium Conv with an Avic x940bt, and there were 3 connectors on the end of the oem harness to be mated with the Scosche FDSR interface harness that I used.
