Question 2005 shaker 1000 aux input question.

so i just bought a used 05 mustang and of course im in love but after much searching I have come to a disappointing conclusion... theres no aux input unless you want to pay for an interface until you get to the 07 models even though the 05 and 06 have the button for them.

im a fairly skilled audio/lighting technician(tv and corporate stuff) and have done custom instals on my 1998 and 2000 mustang, my sisters honda and girlfriends toyota an my old toyota truck as well so i know my way around when it comes to soldering in my own ****. according to the information ive found pins 1,2,9,10 (on the 16 pin J3) are left and right +,- for the "aux" if all i have to do is tap into those 4, for $10 and about 10 min i can have an 1/8 jack hooked in.

BUT.... the pie interface says that when turned on the system will display pie audio or some crap on the HU is there some sort of control pin or data pin(s?) that i need to know about. or will it just work if i steal the 4 pins. i would really like to know before i starting tearing the HU out and multimeter-ing everything.

thank you for anyone who takes there time to help me out

Don't waste your time. It's a function turned on/off via configuration data flashed to the head-unit itself. This requires a VCM/IDS tool and accompanying software to do.

Exactly how does this create a problem? I didn't post it as a guide, just as verification as to HOW it is programmed. Do you think they changed how the newer shaker models were programmed?

There are quite a few minor tweaks here and there from 05-08 model years, none encompass what is used to program modules in the vehicle. The labor charge from a dealer's service dept. for that programming(assuming the older one can be) would buy a decent used pioneer or similar higher-end after-market deck off ebay or craigslist.

There are some minor changes with wiring, but none I know of encompass the 16pin aux plug. All from 05-10 should be the same. http://www.the12volt.com is a decent place to find further free diagrams..

The PIE interface albeit expensive is the only way to go that I know of.
