Alright Im back. So I ended up going with the Pioneer AVH-p2400bt head unit along with a Schosche fd23b wiring harness to make the install easier. However after mathcing all the wires I could I am left with a few extra ones.

On the Pioneer harness i have 4 extras.
1 blue/white wire labeled "system remote"- if i understand correctly this can be connected to my interior fuse box just for power right?
1 yellow/black wire labeled "mute"...any idea where this is connected?
1 purple/white wire labeled "reverse gear signal input"...?
1orange/white labeled "lighting switch terminal"

On the Scosche harness I am left with 8 wires
4 brown labeled "mute"...?
1 solid blue no label...?
1 orange/black labeled "dimmer ground"...?
1 orange/white labeled "dimmer"...?
1 pink labeled "phone mute"...?

Sorry this is such a long post but i dont want to screw up any of this wiring so any help would be greatly appreciated!

NOOOO!!!!!! Do not connect any of the blue wires to any 12v source! The blue wires on the HU are a 12v output. Blue/wht is your remote turn-on for an external amp. The solid blue is a power ant lead. Cap them off if not using them so they will not short to ground. Also cap off your mute wires.

Connect the two orn/wht dimmer wires together. You will also need to locate your reverse light circuit and connect that purple wire. This will allow your nav to work properly. I'm trying to answer this with my iPhone so bear with me. Pm me if you still need some help and I can look up whatever you need when I get back to my shop.

oh wow thanks so much, that really would have been a headache if i tried it my way! ok so i understand everything besides the purple/white for the reverse gear...would you happen to have any idea where the reverse light circuit would be located in my car or at least what it looks like so i can try to find it? and what wire from my car that i would splice into?

Here's the info I found on the reverse wire:

Reverse Light green/brown + BCM B, black 24 pin plug, pin 5
The BCM B (Body Control Module B) is in the right side of the cargo compartment

Basically, you're looking for a wire that has +12V when the car is put into reverse. Just splice the purple/white wire onto this. Make sure you verify all circuits before connecting to it. Sometimes the info put out by wiring diagram services are incorrect. Good luck and let me know if you run into any problems.

Another amp you might consider, and it is an all around good bang for the buck amp is the JL Audio XD700/5. 75 watts per channel on 4 channels and 300 on the bass. And the amp is very small and compact.

Customtronic- thanks so much for your help I'm still waiting for the metra dash kit to be delivered so ill have to wait on the actual install so ill look up some wiring diagrams in the mean while

Shaft- it does seem to have the perfect specs for what I want but it seems a little steep in price. Lowest I could find was around 300$

No problem at all. I don't mind offering up some help anytime it's needed. Look up the Massive Audio NX5 and see what you think. One of my distributors also has that brand available. If interested I could ask him about it and try to cut you a deal.

That one looks good as well but I was hoping to spend at most 250$ on either a 5-channel or a 4-channel and a mono. And I've decided to wait untill end of December to mid January to make a move on an amp and sub. So if your offer is still up around then ill definitely get a hold of you
