hey another question if you dont mind, on the harness from my pioneer head unit there is a light green wire which is supposed to be connected to the vehicles parking switch power wire. however in the my car the two wires arent labeled and the colors arent standard red and black. In your opinion could I just do a trial and error of sorts and connect the light green to one wire and if it doesnt work then connect to the other wire of the parking break switch? I can post a pic if it will make it easier to understand?

Just probe the two wires with a multimeter and find out which one shows ground when the parking brake is applied. I wouldn't do trial and error. If you accidentally tap that wire into a 12v source you could damage the Pioneer unit.
