Will an amplifier help for bass?
Hello,
2013 Mustang V6 factory radio (non Shaker). Just upgraded all four speakers to Pioneers and it sounds much better! Unfortunately, also noticed a loss of bass/low frequencies when upgrading but mids and highs sound great.
Will an external amp help with the lower bass frequencies (no subwoofer yet) or am I wasting my money? I usually listen at maybe 1/3 max volume so not very loud...just looking for more bass but no loud thumping. thanks for any suggestions. Jon

Also as a follow up question, if I do need an amplifier, I would like to install it hidden from view even in the trunk. Would love to install under front seat but don't see much room there. Any other suggestions?
The amp might help with the bass, but with the sound overall it will for sure. A sub would be the best answer.
I made a shelf in the trunk for my amps. just used MDF and 2 screwed in posts in the back and bolted the front to holes that were there from the factory.
They are upright and even though they can be seen, they are very out of the way.

No. The stock nonshaker has no plug ins for an amp. You need to use a converter. I ended up purchasing a small Alpine amplifier (which I was able to hide inside the dash under the radio!) and a wiring harness that plugs in between the car radio and the vehicle harness. A bunch of wire splice connections and it's working pretty well.
I was quoted about $600 or so for a full on amplifier and subwoofer in the trunk but didn't want to go that route yet. Too much money so I tried just a small amp first.
Sound is better for sure but not WOW that much better. I do get better a little bass response and better overall sound after the amp install. I will probably need to upgrade to a real subwoofer setup for nice bass.
