Which amp should I use?
I still have some stereo stuff laying around from my old F-150. I want to add my 10" Kicker CompVR sub (with dual voice coils) to my Mach 460 system. I have a Sony Xplod amp that I was using to run my door speakers and I was wondering if it will do the job pushing the 1 10" sub or if it will be to weak.
Heres the specs.
600W max power
100W x 2 RMS into 4 ohms, 20Hz - 20kHz @ 0.08% THD
250W x 1 RMS into 4 ohms, 20Hz - 20kHz @ 0.1% THD
Class A/B
Variable 50-300Hz low pass filter
40Hz EQ boost
Line level through-put
MOSFET power supply
RCA & speaker level inputs
I was running 2 of these subs in my F150 but I only want to use 1 in the Stang. The amp I was using to power the subs in the F150 is a Performance Teknique ICBM Digital Mono block amp, heres the specs on that one
2000W Max
DPP* Technology
Bridgeable With Another Amplifier
350W @ 4 ohms
700W @ 2 ohms
900W @ 1 ohms
Wired Bass Remote Control
Low Pass Filter (LFP) 35Hz-250Hz
Variable Bass Boost 0-18dB
Variable Bass Frequency 40Hz-120Hz
Built-in Subsonic Filter
Preamp Line Out (RCA)
HIGH EFFICIENCY (low heat emission)
Digital Power Processing (DPP) Digital Power Processor
(Low Heat Emissons &Low Power Consumption)
I'm not sure which amp to use. Can I use the Monblock amp with 1 sub? I think my sub is 4 ohms? I'm guessing I could turn the gain down so it doesn't over power the Mach system.
What do you guys think? I'm a total noob when it comes to stereos so any advice would be greatly appriciated.

it would have to be one hell of a sub for it to handle 2000w from a mono, say get two of them and use the mono, but thats if u want loud as hell. the 600 should run it nicely i think. id go with that.
K.. it's 2000 watts max.. never look at max, you want to look at the RMS. your sub is DVC 4 ohm, which mean you can wire it in 2 or 8 ohm operation, meaning the RMS you'll get to that sub is 700rms.. which is WAY too much. a 10" compvr can only handle like 150 watts rms before you're risking blowing it.
You could actually put 2 of those subs on ur 600 watt amp and run it fine.

Well I have 2 of these subs, but I only want to use one so I can have some trunk left.
So you think I should use the Sony with the sub rather than the Mono? Thats what I was thinking all along but I wasn't sure if I could get better result out of the mono and just turn the gain down.

i suppose if you had the gain low it would work. but personally id use it with two subs, you can build your own box(s) to fit and have alot of space.. even sink them into the trunk and still have ur full trunk left just get sub guards. there are endless possibilities really
wait... 150 watts?! :|.. r u sure, whats the max on those subs, i figured he had the 700 watt kicker subs i dont know much about kciker too much out of my price range. unless they are like the infinity subs.. like 150 rms and 1100 max or something which is weird, my pioneers are 400 rms and 700 max each..
Oh sorry, they're 300 watts rms -_-
get the monoblock, and use both subs / wire it into 1 ohm. and put the gain about 1/3 to start to break them in.. for a couple weeks (unless you've already done so) then raise it to about 70%.

Thanks for all the advice so far.
well, i know there' is space under the rear seats.. so why don't you actually try lifting up your rear seats.. so how much room you got, and maybe try building a custom box under each seat?
