Default Replacing mach 460 HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!

I am looking to replace my current mach 460 sound system in my 2003 mustang gt. I currently have a kenwood excelon deck and kenwood speakers. I have read that my car has two amps for the speakers. Is it possible to just buy a 4 channel amp for all the speakers instead of buying two amps. My car has four total speakers, two in the front and two in the rear. I am going all kenwood because it sounds good and is affordable. Also will a mono amp work with two subs?

THANK YOU

you can do that if you want but the factory amps are perfect and already set up for you and its plenty of power.

I installed a Kenwood KVT-516(Flip Out with DVD,CD,Garmin Navigation, XM/Sirrius Satellite Radio,iPod and USB support) to replace the Mach 460 head unit in my 04 GT last weekend. I would have gone with a Double Din but I already had the Kenwood which I pulled from my Ram Hemi Quad Cab when I traded for the 'Stang. I got the harness, 12 to 5 volt converter (to avoid the POP from the subs when 12 volts is sent to turn on the amp which is expecting 5 volts)and in dash double din to single din mounting kit from Crutchfield. It really thumps! Just followed the instructions provided to connect the Kenwood to the existing Mach 460 amps and speakers and it sounds awesome. The Mach actually has 8 speakers total. Front and back have sub/woofer connected to mid/tweeters through crossovers in between to channel the highs and lows to the correct speaker. You can also use the hi and low pass filters in the head unit to further tune to your preference. The Mach crossovers worked so well that I just left my HPF and LPF set to Through. If you decide to go with the Kenwood speakers, I don't think you can use the Mach Amps because they are designed to drive the Mach 8 ohm speakers and the newer speakers you buy will be 4 ohm. Ebay has lots of Mach amps and speakers for cheap if you decide to go that way and discover amps or speakers are blown. Good luck with your upgrade.

TIP: Go to Crutchfield's site and look up your Head Unit then check what installation kit comes with it. Purchase that install kit from Crutchfield and they will provide installation support should you need it. That's what I did and it came in handy when I had questions about properly wiring the 5v converter and RCA connections.
