Default PLZZZZ HELP

I have searched and searched for this answer before i posted this but i cant find anyone that is having the same situation...the jerk that had my car before me was inside the instrument panel cutting and splicing wires together and he put a white face gauge set in there which resulted in the little power pack burning up...im guessing he dint ground it correctly...anyways i ripped all that setup out of there and got things somewhat back to normal except my illumination in my dash...the dash lights dont come on when i turn the headlights on...i have two dimmer switches and when i move the switch back and forth it doesnt work...but when i move it all the way to the end and click it the dash lights come on along with the cigarette lighter and im guessin the dome light if it was there...any help would be appreciated because its driving me nuts...i just wanna get my car back together and drive it...plzzzz help

Sounds like it could be a broken dimmer switch, since the lights are coming on when you turn them to all the way on.

I agree, it sounds like either a bad switch, or you swapped some wires... seems weird that the cig lighter is connected to that. Might start with that.
