Default Changing radios

I have a 96 mustang, and i got a new radio as a gift. I got it all hooked up and wired but then didnt turn on, i put the old one in and that didnt work either. i then noticed other functions of the car werent working which concluded it was a fuse that was the problem. i found the blown fuse and replaced it. after replacing the fuse the old radio and everyting worked again so i tried the new one and the fuse was blown again. both radios are JVC, one is model kd s 570 and the new one is model kd r330. i looked at the specs and both 12 v and only difference is the power output, the new one outputs 10 watts more and 4 watts of continous power. If anyone could help me get the new radio in and what could be causing the blown fuse? I wouldnt think the power output would cause this to happen with a difference that small is that the problem?

Do all of the wires in the old plug match up to the wires of the new plug? I'm not sure if JVC has changed their plugs/wire locations on the newer models, but that is the first thing i would look at. You may be plugging in the new radio and it could be trying to draw current from a wires that doesn't do that. If the wiring is the same, then you may have a bad radio.
