Default Shaker Speaker Upgrade

Hey everybody I picked up a 2014 yesterday and am looking to upgrade the speakers as I did in my 2006 mustang. The question I have is will it make that much of a difference in just replacing the speakers without a new head unit? Or should the head unit be replaced to even notice a difference.

I am aware a new head unit will improve it majorly but I also like the stock dash setup. Any help would be awesome if people have done either before. Thanks!

if you just replace the speakers you'll probably notice a moderate difference, usually because the tweeters on aftermarket speakers tend to be hotter. I think that makes them screechy, but apparently some people like that.

If you replace the head unit you'll notice a huge difference since the EQ will be gone. Whether it sounds "better" to you is, well, up to you. I tend to think most un-EQd systems sound terrible.

and there is literally no difference in the core "sound quality" between the OE and aftermarket head units. The audio sections are the same off-the-shelf parts which everyone uses.

I was considering adding the Raxiom dash navigation which would obviously change the head unit. If I add this or any other aftermarket head unit with new speakers will it be a world of difference or will I also need to change the stock amplifier for the shaker system?

I spoiled myself in the 2006 as I had JL's all around and a JL sub in the trunk. Now I can't do without upgrading speakers.

the amplifiers in the shaker system only power the subwoofers. there are "integration" kits out there to let you keep them.

That's exactly what I wanted to hear. It won't be long before I get the speakers swapped out then. What are the specifications on the stock amp anyways? What kind of power does they push to the door subs?

the 8" woofers in the doors each have their own amplifier. The woofers are dual voice coil, 1.2 ohms per coil. Each amplifier is two channels, and delivers 55 watts/channel into 1.2 ohms.

so, each subwoofer is getting 110 watts.
