Question 2009 Shaker 500 aux input

All right, my apologies for the simple question, but I've not found this using the search function. Hope I'm not the only knucklehead who has not been able to get this very simple task to work.

Android phone, want to stream Pandora into the Shaker 500 in my 2009 GT. Using short cable, male at both ends, plugging into headphone jack on the phone and the aux in jack in the car.

Linky no worky.

Am I right in assuming that the output from the phone must be one of the USB ports, not the headphone jack, so I'm using the wrong cable?

Correct?

If you can get sound from regular headphones with the app then you should et sound from the stereo the way you have it plugged in, you won't have any controls or anything though the stereo.

You are putting the stereo on the aux channel correct?

Yup. Went to line in setting (via AUX button) on the head unit, and yup, the Pandora app plays just fine through headphones.

Like I said this should not be this difficult. LOL.

I'll fool with it some more tonight if I can. It is entirely possible that this is a phone problem and not a Mustang problem.

Just to close this one out in case anyone is wondering...

...it was a phone problem. New phone purchased, works just fine on line in, so I've got my Pandora in the car now.

Party on!

The aux input does not work in my car I'd something is plugged into the USB port. Stupid.
