Team Pioneer members Scott Owens and Steve Cook set four World Records and collected five 1st Place wins at the 2005 Spring Break Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida. The debut of the new Premier SPL amplifiers was a powerful one, posting incredible scores of 179.0dB in IdBL competition (the highest ever recorded in IdBL) and a 176.6dB in dB Drag Racing.
Steve Cook is the newest member of Team Pioneer, but comes with a rich background in SPL competition - in fact, he was the dB Drag "Extreme Cup" champion from 2004, awarded to the loudest overall competitor at last year's Finals. Using 16 PRS-D5000SPL's, Steve took 1st Place in the Extreme 3-4 class and set a new World Record with 175.0dB. In the IASCA dB League (IdBL), Steve also won his class and set a new World Record with 177.1dB.
“It’s unbelievable what the new Premier amplifiers put out,†said Steve Cook. "They are so powerful that I need to reinforce my van to withstand the pressure! This is just the beginning, things will definitely keep going up from here."
Veteran Team Pioneer member Scott Owens now has 52 (yes, fifty-two) of the new PRS-D5000SPL amplifiers and 13 TS-W5000SPL woofers, and the results were simply unprecedented. In dB Drag, Scott won the Extreme 5+ class with an incredible 176.6dB - winning by almost 7dB, and also backing up a new World Record of 175.8dB. In MECA, Scott won 1st place in the X3 class, was the loudest car of the competition, and also set the "Highest Ever Recorded in MECA" with 176.2dB.
Then, in IdBL Scott nailed an unbelievable 179.0dB. According to Head Judge Moe Sabourin, "That was the highest score EVER recorded in IdBL, and actually the highest score EVER recorded on an Audio Control system!" Scott then backed that up with a 178.8dB to set the new IdBL World Record and take the win in Ultimate 4 class.
“Throughout the event, we’re hitting big numbers without a problem. The new Pioneer PRS amplifiers crank out massive power and combined with the SPL subwoofers, produce some serious bass,†said Scott Owens, SPL competitor. “We hit multiple world records that’ll be hard to beat this year.â€
The third member of Team Pioneer, Kyle Witherspoon, was on hand to support the team. Look for the debut of Kyle's car, a truly extreme Scion xB, to come soon.
