Default Looking for help 2006 speaker replacement

Hi All,

I've been reading posts here and elsewhere about upgrading the stereo system and I haven't seen yet what I'm trying to discover.

My situation is I have 2006 Mustang GT and the front speakers are mostly blown out. I just want to replace them without spending a lot of money. I am not an audiophile so I'm not going for quality over price. I just like to play music but I'm not super picky about sound quality or massive bass.

I think the car has a Shaker 500 system, but with a different head unit. I did take off the door panel and I believe the speakers in there are stock speakers. I have a double-DIN head unit in there. I'm not positive that it was originally a Shaker 500 or 1000. I noticed wiring in my trunk that is not currently connected to anything so perhaps the previous owner pulled a sub.

I am hoping you could give me some recommendations for replacement speakers . Thanks guys

Just to be clear, I have the upper-panel mid-range + tweeter (6x8), and also the lower-panel 8" woofer in there now.

if you're not that picky, then just get some 5x7/6x8s from a reputable brand.

Thanks for your reply! I just got the sense after searching the forums that I need to worry about low-impedence and the physical depth of the speakers so I was hoping somebody had a specific brand/model in mind.

the only low-impedance speakers are the subwoofers; the 8" ones in the door are dual-voice-coil, 1.2 ohms per coil. the upper door speakers and rear speakers are 4 ohms, so any replacement 4 ohm speaker will work fine.
