Default Amp/Speaker problem?

Ok I have 2 tens in a band pass box. I had an off brand 800 watt 4 channel amp that I used to push them. I had both gains cut up and the bass boost on with that amp, I also had my head unit bass part of the way on. I just bought a pioneer 760 watt 2 channel amp and connected everything up. My problem is that even with the gain only cut half way up and the bass bost only cut half way up, it tends to cut off at a certain volume. It's not like I'm going any higher on the volume than I did with my old amp. Same volume. What will happen is that the bass will stop for a second them come back on...then it might stop again for a second and come back on, but if I cut the volume down a little bit it stops doing that. What's going on, what do I need to fix, I just want to get my system to work to it's full potential. Thanks for any help.

the problem here is you may be runing a cheep amp but from personal experience i know cheep amps are ussally better but not always i only use mtx amps now but youe problem mosy likely is a bad ground or your grounded to paint but it could also be the amps cut off switch. even if your speakers say a certain wattage and your amp says the same it dosent make sense to me but the amps are never the wattage they say the are you have to go off the rms of the amp thats your actual wattage from the amp but its ussally 100-800 watts less than the watage on the box look in the manual for the amp . how ever there is a easy fix for this one get a biger amp or bridge another small small amp yo yours run a power spliter and run your hots and make sure you have a bare metal ground ui always put a bolt through the floor and grind the paint off the top and i would get a power capacitator for your amps so you dont drain your battery

I would understand what your saying if the amp I was running was a genaric brand amp. But I am running the pioneer amp which I believe is a higher brand amp. And for the amp maybe not being grounded. I never moved the ground wire. It's the same ground wire I had for my other amp that I had connected and never had a problem with it. I have it grounded to one of the bolts from the seats. This amp hits alot hard than my other amp that I had. And I have this amp cut to only half it's potential as of right now. So could the problem be that I might have to much power going to my speakers?

HAHA Yeah if you buy all your car audio from Wal-Mart then yes Pioneer is a brand superior to the other brands they carry. Sorry I couldn't resist. Unless your reffering to their Premier line, Pioneer amps are in the same hole as Rockford Punch series, Xplod, Dual, Lightning all that crap. If you had an amp hooked up and everything worked fine, they both use the same size fuse, and both call for the same size power/ground wire, ever think that maybe you got a defective unit? Pioneer made thousands of those amps, your chances are many of them were boxed up and shipped out that may have had something wrong with them. Or that maybe people don't always follow the "Handle With Care" sign on the side. I am of course saying this if the old amp used the same size fuse as the new one. <--Although that shouldn't make the amp cut out like you say it is. if you used the wrong size fuse you'd A. Pop fuses frequently or B. Fry some of your equipment. And you didn't do a single thing to any of the wiring when you took the old one out and put in the new one.

sorry to say pioneer sucks try looking at other amps i would rather have a lightning than a pioneer trust me i used to work on the car sterio sales and instalation seen i would reconend a mtx or visonic or even cadance amp. but personaly i would just buy a visonik 1000 watt bass pack everything included box and all wires they cost about 200 but the amp alone in that pack pays for itself and the wires are 50 dollars in the kit the box is 45 and the subs run about a 100 a peice look opn e bay get a deal .and secondly when you change your amp and subs always use new wire cause if you look at it it looks dirty not shiny because it gets hot and weekens you wont get full conection

How do you recommend two great companies like MTX and Cadence and then also recommend Visonik? Visonik is a copy-cat in looks and performance of Sony's Xplod line. I know a guy that bought 2 Visonik 15's and a 1500 watt Visonik amp and I must say I was disgusted with the output these things did, I mean I had 2 of the older Pioneer 450W IMPP 12" subs with a Profile amp. (Long before I had a clue about car electronics) And it was no comparison. My junk blew his total and udder junk out of the water. This was about 2 years ago so unless Visonik has done a complete 180 in the production of their products. I highly recommend not purchasing Visonik. Hey Rob which amp would you rather have a 300w RMS Rockford Fosgate amp or a 300w RMS Lightning Audio amp?

You might need to check the voltage at the amp. It could be that the voltage is dropping low enough to shut the amp down. Does it do it with the car running and not running?

wrong again......tas comp is small in comparison to a real comp. i owned tas last year for the trunk car class. what shop in taylor? think before you reply..i live in the area and frequent the music scene around here. Tas electronics , car stereo one in toledo are for the most part garbage installers/dealers who will represent any junk piece of equipment because they know they sell that crap to the "rattle kids" riding around bumping no quality bass using audiobahn and the like. If you ever want to hear some quality **** when you come home on leave, look me up and i'll clue you in on some real equipment. BTW -- i was born in Toledo and am there every other weekend or so and i go to sports card shows at Gibralter Trade Center in Taylor once a month.
