much better comps out there then those you mentioned.......brands that come to mind when thinking of good comps are dls, cdt, ads, seas, focal, rainbow, seight(member here) recommends mtx as well. Keep in mind that good comps should always be externally amped with a good clean amp.

memphis make spl stuff so most of thier stuff lacks SQ and thier comps arnt too good. and yes Brands like DLS focal dyna and many others are great. First thing is your stereo is only as good as the weakest link so if you get 600 dollar comps and run them off the factory deck they will sound like ***. so my questions are what else does your system consist of. Deck? amps? subs? do you want great sq or something with a lot of kick bass? if you answer that then we should be able to reccomend you about the perfect comps for your car. also id just run coax in the back its a waste to put comps back there.

I agree unless you want a truly sq system your wasting your time putting componets in the back. Do this go to your nearest MTX dealer and buy their competetion series componet set and get their coaxials for the rear. Right now MTX is running a promotion where when you buy one pair of speakers you get another pair of equal or lesser value 50% off. Comp. componets will run $450 and your rear speakers should be $99, all of them for $500, and don't waste your time buying componet speakers unless you have an amp to run them. You can either run all four on a 4-channel or just run the coaxials off your deck and get a 2-channel for the componets. MTX 3404 run them all pretty well. Or if you'll just do the fronts look at either the 3202 or the 4252.

450 for a set of MTX comps? mtx dosnt make a speaker that sounds good enough for that. you can get a very nice set of Arc or DLS comps for that much that would blow those mtx out of the water.

Haha, are you kidding me. Bones will remember this. From Car Audio Magazine, These new MTX componets I am reffering to were rated at a 74 out of 100. The new Focal Utopia Be, yeah those $3,500 speakers, were rated at a 76, what were the two points above the MTX you ask. Ease of installation. Which I don't know how they were rated lower since the Focals have a crossover the size of an amp (not that thats a bad thing). I listen to those things all day long here and they sound great. Add an addition woofer for more punch and lows to those and you won't be able to find anything better for that price. Who said that the MTX's were in the water with those speakers to begin with anyway?

Love my JL Audio XR series components, and they bolt right in at $300 a set.

Bottom line, different people like different sounds from there speakers. Go out to different shops and listen to different brands for yourself. And don't worry if they don't have the 5x7 size hooked up for you to hear, not many shops do. I didn't even hook them up in my own shop. But if you hear the 6 1/2"'s, you'll get the same sound out of a 5x7, so it will give you a good idea.

Get what you think sounds good. Don't let anyone tell you what you should or shouldn't put in your car.
