Old Speakers!
Well, I have a 67 coupe in my basement that is being restored slowly and I've always known that there was a 6x9 in the rear(not there anymore) but I just found out there was a small one in the front dash too. Took it out and damn, looks like someone caught it on fire. Anybody know anything like the watts on these things, just outta curiosity? Didnt know wether to post this in classic or audio.

The cone is barely attached. And the thing where the highs should be feels like velcro.

I can only imagine how junky they were back in the 60's considering how cheap they are today. The speaker as you can see is oval with a pointed frame(frame?) on it, but it doesnt sit down on anything like that. It butts up against a square hole. You could put any speaker down there aslong as the cone didnt jump above the rim and smack the metal opening which has a grate over it.
ORIGINAL: Sinister Audio
id say they are around 2 watts maybe 1. if you gonna upgrade your stereo in there id put comps in the front and no rear speakers just subs.

Replace them all with coaxials. That is if you are wanting to keep this a near original resto, and not a sq fanatic system. Are you going to use the factory radio to power them? If yes, then maybe the Type-S series from Alpine or the Reference series from Infinity. Those both tend to have a lower RMS rating. If you plan on putting in a aftermarket unit then the Infinity Kappa series, Alpine Type-R, MTX Thunder series would all work great. Again if you want to keep the most original as possible consider these two options. Get a newer OEM Ford unit, or (the one I think would be the neatest) Leave your factory unit in it's place and mount an aftermarket unit elsewhere, so you still have the OEM look with new age sound and performance. I see alot of great fully restored car guys do this and it seems to appeal to everyone.
I dont plan on putting a system in my 67 because it wont be a daily driver so I will probably just put the stock speakers I kept from my 98 in the 67. I could probably stick one up front and the other 3 in the many openings in the rear deck area. I have the original radio but can you say junk? I will probably just sell or throw that away and get a cheap aftermarket to fit when I get the money.
