I had two sets of speakers that I ran in conjunction with 2 Type R 12s. One was a set of Diamond M6 or M5 comps. and the other was a set of Focal Polyglass comps.
I gave each set over 100 watts RMS. I just couldn't get the subs/comps to make smooth transition into one another. Even though the Type S couldn't handle as much power and bottomed out/maxed out a lot quicker, they still "fit" much better. The Type Rs were always in your face. If you turned them down to mellow them out, you weren't giving them enough juice and it was obvious.
I WILL say that when I ran one Type R, it was a decent overall sound, but I had to overpower it to get the desired volume which led to me frying several of them.
